Jk, you'd probably get better answers by asking Spaniards about it. If I had to pick something I would say the most common misconception about it is assuming that it's the "default" Spanish and everything else is a variation of it. Now, technically that's exactly the case, Spanish came from Spain, but over in latin america it evolved in a different way to the point that the Spanish spoken in Spain is pretty distinct from how most Spanish speakers speak.
The biggest example is "vosotros". I see a lot of people who try to learn Spanish use the "vosotros" grammatical person when they trying to speak. In my opinion, learning it is a waste of time unless you are interested in Spain specifically because I don't think there is a single Spanish speaking country that bothers to use it outside of Spain, we just use "ustedes" (for both casual and formal situations). We learn the vosotros conjugations in school and then never use them again.
